Telling Stories that Illuminate the World
The world is in upheaval, and it is the youth who must inherit this future.
They cannot stand aside — they need a voice, a vision, and the power to shape the world they are stepping into.
At SENKŌ (formerly Tenkawa), we believe visual storytelling can spark that change. Their stories can cast light into the shadows of uncertainty.
Through storytelling, youth transform not only how they see the world, but how the world sees them
imaginative, courageous, and full of hope.
As an incubator, SENKŌ (formerly Tenkawa) guides and fosters youth through an annual festival, creative labs, mentorship programs,
and a digital gallery of relevant stories. We empower them to speak out, connect, and illuminate what too often
remains unseen — cultivating the next generation of changemaking storytellers.
Since 2014, SENKO (formerly Tenkawa) has been empowering Thai high school students to tell their stories through photography and visual expression.
Over 2,000 young people have joined SENKO programs, discovering new ways to see themselves and the world through the camera.
Hundreds of schools across Thailand have been part of SENKO, connecting students into a shared network of creative voices.
Local Stories Matter
We believe powerful stories begin close to home. SENKO values photography rooted in local culture, tradition, and everyday life, encouraging students to honor their origins and share the unique perspectives of their communities.
Art with Social Purpose
Photography is more than aesthetic-it is a way of understanding society. SENKO encourages students to use art as a voice to observe the world, highlight social issues, and express ideas that matter.
Experience Over Reward
SENKO prioritizes meaningful experiences over monetary prizes. We believe learning, connection, and personal growth are more valuable than rewards that can be measured in money.
Friendship Beyond Borders
Creativity connects people. SENKO brings young photographers together across cultures and backgrounds, fostering genuine friendships, shared perspectives, and mutual respect beyond borders.
SENKO’s international partner is Higashikawa, Japan’s Town of Photography in Hokkaido. Each year, the winning team from our incubation program is invited to take part in the Higashikawa Youth Photo Festival Exchange, a one-week immersive experience where students learn photography alongside peers from over 15 countries. Through shared creative practice, cultural exchange, and everyday moments, young photographers form lasting friendships and broaden how they see the world.
